AuthenTec has rolled out a family of smart sensor hardware and software products designed for new consumer notebook PCs and netbooks. The new offering includes a new family of multi-function fingerprint sensors incorporating LED drivers, lighted LED packaging options, and its new TrueSuite PC client application software.
AuthenTec said that its consumer notebook/netbook offering is centred around its new smart sensors for the PC market, including the newly introduced AES1660, and TrueSuite PC client software. The AES1660 offers the expanded functionality, biometric performance, multiple packaging and form factor options, and low bill of materials (BOM) cost required for integration into new consumer notebooks and netbooks.
According to AuthenTec, the AES1660 features include: integrated LED drivers for multiple lighted LED packaging options; TrueNav cursor and menu navigation; multiple battery-friendly operating modes; internal current limiter, voltage regulator and clock generator. It supports USB2.0 host and SPI Flash memory interfaces.
The company has also unveiled its new TrueSuite client application software that is expected to simplify the PC user’s connection with their online social life and digital identity. The new software simplifies the fingerprint enrolment process by leveraging the company’s Power of Touch capability to enable one-touch access to a PC user’s web sites or online social networks, one-touch protection of files and personal information, and the importing of customisable user settings and identities into a notebook PC.
TrueSuite supports a variety of operating systems and is optimised for the forthcoming Windows 7 OS with extended support for Windows Biometric Framework (WBF).
