Posing a major challenge to the local contenders in the emerging field, one of the two US market leaders, Comdisco Disaster Recovery Services Inc has formed a 50-50 joint venture company with Ageris SA, Paris. The new company, Ageris International, will provide comprehensive disaster recovery and contingency planning services for IBM and DEC users in France, and is intended to play a major role in a planned pan-European disaster recovery network strategically positioned for the post-1992 market. Ageris has been a subsidiary of the Financiere pour l’informatique, la Telematique et la Bureautique SA leasing group since 1986: the group employs 1,300 and did $100m turnover in 1988. The long-range plan is for integration of Ageris international into a planned network of Comdisco recovery bases across Europe.
