Lexmark International plans to introduce enhancements to its RFID product, through a combination of its monochrome laser printing devices and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) Ultra High Frequency (UHF) technology. The company claimed that the enhancement will offer customers across many industries an alternative to track and access their assets and information with real-time visibility.
The company’s new RFID UHF option is reportedly designed as an add-on accessory, in place of a drawer, for its T654 monochrome laser printer. The option, offered at an estimated street price of $2,499, allows printing of RFID label media up to 20 pages per minute in RFID mode. Also, RFID tags can be placed either horizontally or vertically on the print media and can provide media support from 5 inches x 7 inches to 8.5 inches x 14 inches.
The company’s RFID UHF product has the radio and antenna built into the printer option, so customers, who already own its T654 printer, can upgrade their T654 into an RFID-enabled device.
Marty Canning, vice president and president of its printing solutions and services division at Lexmark, said: Lexmark’s newest RFID solution is leading-edge technology that helps our customers in key vertical markets, such as manufacturing and healthcare, to reduce errors and streamline processes. In addition, customers can also use the device to print and manage their everyday business documents, eliminating the need for and costs associated with operating multiple, single-use devices.
The company has earlier given the details of its full 2009 inkjet all-in-one (AIO) product line. The company said that it expects to deliver eight new printers designed primarily for small to medium sized businesses. The new product line is said to include three web-connected touch screen AIOs with its myTouch capacitive 4.3 touch screen technology.
The touch screen AIOs will range in price from $199 to $399 and are expected to be released in September 2009.
