Personal Computer dealer and maintenance company Datapro Computers Ltd based in Horsham, West Sussex has acquired the share capital of fellow dealer and maintenance company Microtek, based in Ipswich. Both companies sell microcomputers for accounts, database, word processing and desktop publishing applications as well as offering services such as cabling and installation, hardware and software support, and training. Microtek sells IBM and Apricot machines, while Datapro is a dealer for Altos, Apricot, IBM and Tandon. Microtek is the far smaller operation of the two with a turnover in the UKP800,000 region, but offers Datapro a Central Eastern base from which to improve its coverage of the UK. Datapro, prior to this most recent acquisition, has grown to a UKP5m turnover due partly to the acquisition of the IBM dealer Ellipsys, the computer maintenance company Midas, and the Apricot dealer Southern Micro over the past three years. Microtek will now be called Microtek-Datapro Ltd.
