Danvers, Massachusetts-based Recital Corp’s relational database and applications development is pushing out from its DEC VAX/VMS base and into Unix, and its London-based UK division has implementations now available for IBM’s AIX, DEC’s Ultrix, Apple Computer’s A/UX and Acorn Computers Plc’s BSD Unix 4.3 in the UK. In addition the Recital system, launched last September, will now run without compilation on Intel 80386-based machines running binary-compatible Unix System V.3.2/386 and on the ICL DRS 300 range via an agreement with Lancashire-based QCL Ltd. The move brings the dBase language to Unix, and with Recital’s SQL interface, enables integration with other popular databases. The single user version of Recital sells for UKP800 and the thing is also available in a version that permits an unlimited number of users to be supported, for just UKP200 more.
