GT Software, a provider of integration offerings that leverage mainframe resources, has released a new version of mainframe integration offering, Ivory Service Architect 4.2, with native support of CA Ideal.

The company said that the new offering is based on web services technology and embeds performance improvements for CICS and z/OS servers, delivering increased throughput and decreased MIPS consumption.

The new Ivory toolset enables the integration of mainframe applications and data, and allows developers to create and publish web services, and execute those services on zOS, Linux, Windows, or Linux on System z, the company said.

CA Ideal, an application development system for the relational database environment features a panel analyser that gives a web service designer the ability to use real CA Ideal fields from the panel when building services with Ivory.

In addition, it also provides the ability to exploit the 3270 bridge facility in CICS to execute CA Ideal screen based transactions avoiding Telnet-based ‘screen scraping’ at runtime. Ivory also now supports the inclusion of .NET and Java code, in addition to mainframe applications and data when assembling web services.

Rob Morris, chief strategy officer of GT Software, said: “Starting with its genesis as Computer Associates, CA Technologies has been a driving force in the mainframe IT world for many years.

“Products like CA Datacom, CA Ideal, and CA IDMS are the backbone of many mission critical applications of many corporations. GT Software has for years been able to help customers successfully extend the capabilities of these technologies and provide added value to these already critical systems.”
