Commtouch has launched a new version of its GlobalView URL Filtering offering, which it claims to provide secure protection against web threats while enabling safe, compliant browsing.
The company said that the new version is for existing and emerging internet standards including support for internationalised domain names and support for new generic top level domain options.
The company claims that the new offering is designed to meet new and growing challenges of parsing multiple languages and characters. Its cloud technology processes many transactions each day from global data sources and leverages its cloud to overcome the size and performance limitations of other types of URL filtering technology.
Asaf Greiner, vice president of products at Commtouch, said: “Over the last few months, Commtouch Data Centers have already recognised and successfully analysed web pages using these multi-language techniques. In line with our commitment to developing future-proof technology, we identified them and modified our technologies accordingly.
“Malware writers, phishers and other cybercriminals will try to leverage these changes, and technologies that cannot recognise non-Latin characters in domain names will be unable to properly categorise the threats, thereby leaving their customers vulnerable.”
