Nomura Research Institute has begun offering a new service for Japanese companies going global – building interfaces between IBM-compatible hardware and software and non-IBM equipment: the service was developed in conjunction with Sumitomo Fire & Marine Insurance Co, with an interface developed between NEC Corp’s Aladdin advanced office system and an IBM personal computer-based local area network using the Nomura international value-added network service to provide the conversion codes between the Japanese system and the Sumitomo Fire & Marine offices in the US – data created using a Japanese accounting system can be convereted to run on IBM personal computers in the US; the service will be extended to Europe and to other companies.
