Data Translation Inc, headquartered in Marlborough, Massachusetts, has announced that several vendors have personal computer AT bus and VME bus-compatible processor boards that use the Data Translation DT-Connect open bus interface specification: the vendors include Ariel Corp, CSP Inc, Alacron Inc, Scientific Applications International Corp, Mercury Computer Systems Inc, Atlanta Signal Processors Inc, Valley Enterprises Inc, Sky Computers, and the German company, Skalar Computer GmbH; the DT-Connect transfers data at real-time rates and a basic configuration consists of one analogue input or frame grabber board connected to a processor board; the acquisition board serves as Master and initiates data transfer cycles, while the processor board serves as a Slave; a system of handshaking, consisting of timing signals, is defined for controlling requests for data, and for acknowledging the receipt of data.
