Ready Systems Inc, Sunnyvale, California has a version of its VRTX32 real-time environment for MS-DOS micros. VRTX-PC is designed to provide embedded systems designers with a machine that can be used both as a development system and as an embedded computer. The VRTX-PC real-time operating system supports MS-DOS functions, including all MS-DOS file and device input-output and can be executed as an MS-DOS-resident program, so the micro need not be rebooted to run MS-DOS. It includes the VRTX32 real-time kernel, RTscope real-time debugger, IFX input-output file executive, RTL run-time library and PCX Personal Computer support executive, plus WIX, a windowing environment. It supports Microsoft C and Borland Turbo C compilers and related source code debuggers for application development. The single-user version costs $7,600 and substantial discounts for additional users.
