Fujitsu Ltd and its PFU Ltd – Panafacom Ussac – affiliate PFU have announced new models of the A series Unix supermicros that the two market in partnership: the A-Station is a successor to the Sigma Station 230 developed under the Sigma project, and comes as three 300 series models based on the 68040, which Motorola Inc promises really will be available this months, and three 68030-based 200 models; they come with a high-resolution screen and X Window System; in the A-100 series, a 25MHz 68040-based A-100 marks the top of the line, with 2.5 times the performance of the previous top model, the A-80, and there is also an A-100HR dual processor version available; the A-station 200 and 300 series are priced from $10,500 and ship from November 1990, while the A-100 is just under $100,000 and ships in February next year; the A-100HR is around $190,000 and arrives in May, and Fujitsu looks to sell 26,000 of the workstations and systems over four years.
