Accompanying the board that turns an XT-alike into a terminal for its office automation systems (CI No 1,163), Metaphor Computer Systems Inc, Mountain View, California has new PC Directory software which enables users of WS 2XP-equipped MS-DOS micros to move files and data easily between the MS-DOS and Metaphor Data Interpretation System environments, and PC Connection, a combination of hardware and software intended for MS-DOS users who want to access Data Interpretation System capabilities from locations remote to the Metaphor network: they get a subset of the full capabilities but can retrieve data from Metaphor database servers and gateways, execute Capsule applications and download the results, and exchange memos and electronic mail; users need the PC Connection server at $8,200, the new PC Connection software at the Metaphor end, costing $9,800; plus $500 per micro.
