Turns out that the Array Technology Inc redundant array of inexpensive disks to be marketed by Storage Technology Corp (CI No 1,480) will be offered as a low-end complement to the system code-named Iceberg that the company has been developing for the past two years plus: the Array system uses a MIPS R3000 as the controller and stores 9.12Gb to 19.2Gb on 5.25 disks; in its present incarnation it is designed specifically for use with its parent Tandem Computers Inc’s systems; the Iceberg will store 30Gb and 100Gb on 5.25 Winchesters bought in OEM from Hewlett-Packard Co.
