Advanced Micro Devices Inc has started taking orders, promising delivery by the end of the quarter, for a K5 chip it says equals a 166MHz Pentium in performance. The AMD K5-PR166, whose bus speed is really more like 150MHz, hits the market at $167 in 1,000-piece lots. The first taker is Acer America Corp, using the PR166 for two new members of its AcerEntra range of bare-bones reseller boxes.
