Banyan Systems Inc, the Westborough, Massachusetts company that has effectively lost a network operating system – Vines – and not yet really found another role, is having to slash its workforce by yet another 20% to 25%. It will take $10m to $13m pretax charges for the lay-offs, consolidation of facilities and production lines. It said it was hit by buying delays at several key accounts, late delivery of several new lines, and a senior management transition.
