The video games business seems to be almost as piratical and full of conflict and intrigue as the long-lamented pirate radio stations around Britain’s coast used to be, and small San Jose-based games marketer American Video Entertainment Inc alleges that Nintendo Co has been shipping base games players into the US, Canada and Australia for more than three months that have been secretly modified to render hundreds of thousands of cartridge games unplayable: it is urging anyone with one of the new machines to return them to the retailer where they were bought and demand one that plays all games or insist on getting a full refund.
