Some restructuring has been going on at Bournemouth based Systematica Ltd, with Sir John Fairclough, chairman of IBM Research UK coming in as non-executive chairman. Andrew Wells, founder member of Systematica, remains as founder chairman and managing director of the company, but marketing director Mike Fish has left. Wells says the company is projecting a small loss for year end, but added that sales were up significantly on last year. Wells says that part of the reason for the projected loss was due to the development of the PS/2 product, which is now on stream. There has been a good deal of speculation that since IBM took a 20% stake in its AD/Cycle Business Partner, Systematica has been neglecting the DEC side of its business. This is not the case, argues managing director Andrew Wells. He agrees that there has been some reallocation of staff from the Digital Products to Systematica’s strategic multi-vendor sales team, but says that this was undertaken before IBM took its stake in the company. He declined to comment on how much of Systematica’s Virtual Software Factory business is now non-IBM.
