Cable and Wireless Plc’s Mercury Paging Ltd on Friday announced that it had merged its operations with Intercity Paging Ltd. The merged company will trade under the name of Mercury Paging Ltd and, with its new customer base, will be ranked among the top three in the UK market, with over 100,000 pagers in service, the company said. The new company will be owned 51% by Mercury, 20% by Motorola Inc and 29% by Intercity Paging Ltd. Intercity in turn is owned by MTEL Inc. Motorola already had a 49% stake in Mecury Paging Ltd.
