San Jose-based Acer Group Inc has come out with a new line of low-cost personal computers called Acros, aimed at the mass retail market: the eight models range from the Acros 325 SE notebook to the 33MHz 80486-based Model 780 desktop; the company also announced AcrosLive X-10, an expansion box that enables users to outfit their existing machines with multimedia capabilities, including CD-ROM and video: it comes with CD-ROM player, sound board, built-in speaker, up-front microphone and headphone jacks, plus two extra 16-bit multimedia expansion slots for future upgrade boards such as video or data compression; no prices given.
