Amstrad Plc was due to demonstrate a pre-production model of its video telephone at the Hannover Fair last week; unfortunately, the product, which was developed in conjunction with GEC Marconi Ltd, and is being exhibited by British Telecommunications Plc at the Ideal Homes Exhibition Plus, failed to materialise after Alan Sugar decided that the picture quality left a lot to desired; consequently, the viewing was cancelled and Mr Amstrad was seen wending his weary way home with the machine, no doubt consoling himself with memories of 1966.
