The European Commission has decided it must investigate the deal under which what we must learn to call Alcatel Alsthom SA is taking over Fiat SpA’s Telettra SpA telecommunications equipment subsidiary on the grounds that the deal will lead to Alcatel NV having a dominant share of the Spanish market with annual business there of $800m.
