The information systems division of Mitsubishi Electonics America Inc, has a new desktop colour printer that is claimed to produce letter-size photographic-quality output at 100 seconds per page: the DiamondColor Print 300 uses a dye-sublimation process which provides continuous-tone colour and colour correction capability on the front control panel; there is a full-page buffer, which enables the printer to store the data for an 8.1 by 11 image, and produce multiple copies without requiring data to be sent to the printer each time; the DiamondColor Print 300 comes standard with both SCSI II and parallel interfaces; a direct MS-DOS or Windows driver is included with the DiamondColor Print 300, and the driver generates a TIFF, Targa or Windows BMP file from any Windows application; the DiamondColor Print 300 is $15,000, early next month.
