Dr Robb Wilmot, who became involved with Poqet Computer Corp early in its life, has graduated to the chairmanship of Poqet successor company Fujitsu Personal Systems Inc, the wholly-owned Santa Clara company created from the final full acquisition of Poqet by Fujitsu. Fujitsu acquired a 30% stake in Poqet in late 1989, pumped further cash in along the way, and finally took the company over in May this year. The new company has responsibility for product planning, sales and marketing and systems integration support of the Poqet systems in North America and Europe, while manufacturing will be done at Fujitsu facilities in Japan. The first products under the new logo include Poqetpad, the small, light, full-screen pen-based computer which has the functionality of an XT in a 1.2 lbs unit; PoqetCom, a 3.3 lbs portable computer with an integrated radio modem for wireless communications and electronic messaging; and the PoqetPC 1.2 lbs MS-DOS super-portable computer. The main focus is presently on expanding reseller relationships in vertical markets such as health care, pharmaceutical, transportation and utilities, for applications such as data capture and form-filling.
