Sun Microsystems Computer Corp and Boulder, Colorado-based Coral Systems Inc have signed for joint marketing of Coral’s Intelligent Network product for cellular telephone service providers. Two new products, Home Location Register and FraudBuster, will be introduced at the end of 1992 for the Sun Sparcserver 600MP series under Solaris – a combination being used by software houses and carriers doing in-house development to build the components of an Intelligent Network. The Intelligent Network concept consists of a switching system, the Signalling System 7 software, a central database and a support system for the database. Coral’s Home Location Register software transparently routes calls to any subscriber, regardless of location, while Fraudbuster detects and attempts to prevent fraud through pre-call and post-call verification and the authorisation of cellular calls. Coral’s beta release software on the Sparcserver 600 MP is claimed to have detected the most common types of wireless fraud, including subscriber fraud, clone phones and tumbler phones.
