A new Olympia (UK) Ltd is to sell the full range of Olympia office equipment including photocopiers, facsimile machines, personal computers, printers, word processors, electronic typewriters, dictating machines and calculators. The Iver, Buckinghamshire-based company is taking over from AEG Olympia (UK) Ltd following the restructuring plans announced by AEG AG in the spring (CI No 1,864). Only the typewriters are manufactured by Olympia, at its Mexican plant (CI No 1,955) all the rest are badged products bought in OEM. A new range of personal computers is soon to be added to the product list, pending completion of the company’s evaluation procedure. Olympia will be the sole distributor under a deal struck by its German par-ent company – no further details are available as yet. Meantime, Olympia is to establish a UK-wide network of 40 Premier Dealers with additional authorised dealers and third party service specialists; contracts will be signed this week. Combined Precision Components Plc of Preston, Lancashire will handle spares distribution and Milton Keynes-based Micro Tech-niques Ltd will be an authorised repair centre.
