Motorola Inc has postponed the launch of its StarMax Pro 6000 CHRP-compliant MacOS machine (CI No 3,215), which was due next week, in the light of Apple’s decision to clamp down on the clonemakers earlier this week. Apple said it had no plans to allow the compatible manufacturers to ship machines based on the Common Hardware Reference Platform, and announced major changes with regards to licensing MacOS 8. Motorola said the decision came at a time when the MacOS compatibles market was booming. The company said it had canceled the launch in order to reassess the situation created by the change in Apple’s strategy, and in the best interests of its customers.
