In one of the more bizarre anti-dumping rulings, the US International Trade Commission ruled that portable electronic typewriters from Singapore allegedly dumped in the US at less than fair value threaten US industry: the ruling is bizarre because the complaint was made by Japanese company Brother Industries Ltd, which has a plant in Tennesee, against quoted US company Smith Corona Corp (where Hanson Plc is a minority shareholder), which gets some typewriters from Singapore; the 4-2 vote means that Commerce can now go ahead and set punitive anti-dumping duties.
