Competition and regulation are the key concerns of British Telecommunications Plc, with threat of recession gradually easing, chairman Iain Vallance told the annual meeting yesterday: competition is already tough and it will get tougher; but with goodwill, and a fresh outlook from the new regulator, Don Cruickshank, it should be possible to develop a regulatory framework closer to the UK government’s original aim of encouraging competition to develop and provide proper consumer protection, he declared.
