Another outsider crashing IBM’s AS/400 party is Foster City, California-based Blyth Software Corp, which has persuaded IBM to resell and support Blyth’s new Omnis 7.2 for the AS/400 outside North America for use in Windows and Macintosh clients connecting to the AS/400 as part of the Client Series: the product provides a development environment with life-cycle support for client-server applications, and links to the AS/400 through Microsoft Corp’s Open Data Base Connectivity for Windows clients and Apple’s Data Access Language for Macintosh clients, Information Builders Inc’s EDA/SQL and TechGnosis Inc’s SequeLink for both clients; IBM already sells Omnis 7.2 in US.
