Kay Nishi’s Ascii Corp has joined the ranks of star-struck Japanese electronics companies: its Ascii Pictures Corp subsidiary is to buy a 33% stake in Edward R Pressman Film Corp for $7.5m and the group is guaranteeing another $7.5m of bank debt; the company’s movies include Wall Street, Reversal of Fortune and Conan the Barbarian.
