The US Federal Communications Commission is developing software that will enable bidders to participate in future airwave auctions without leaving their offices: it should be ready for testing next month and would be used at the next auction for airwave licences this autumn; as for the first auction, for licences for for advanced paging services, of the $617m raised, it has to date received $123.4m in downpayments from the bid winners but serveral have not been able to meet their obligations under the bid; this autumn, 30 regional narrowband licences for Personal Communications Services will be auctioned, six each for five regions.
