Digital Equipment Corp is infusing new blood into its restructured sales and marketing force, now dubbed the Systems Business Unit, going outside company doors for four new vice-presidents. Michael Gallup was named vice-president of worldwide systems marketing; Deborah Miller will serve as vice-president of sales and marketing in the Americas; Thomas Vacchiano Jr will act as vice-president for plans and controls; and Theo Wegbrans will serve as vice-president for sales and marketing in Europe. Gallup comes to DEC from Hewlett-Packard Co, where he was worldwide marketing manager for Workstation Systems Group. At DEC he will oversee marketing of workstations, servers and network software. Ms Miller spent 17 years at IBM Corp and recently a high-tech marketing and sales company. Ms Miller will oversee DEC’s Systems Business Unit sales and marketing campaigns for North and South America. Vacchiano was most recently employed as vice-president of strategy and business development for AT&T Corp in Latin America and the Caribbean. At DEC he will run budget and operational oversight. The vice-presidents report to Harry Copperman, vice-president, sales and marketing, Systems Business Unit.
