Intel Corp plans create new motherboards for home multimedia computers, which will feature advanced communications for connecting to the Internet, built-in video for receiving television signals and possibly three-dimensional graphics accelerators produced by outside chipmakers. They will feature the Universal Serial Bus to make it easy to connect multiple components such as printers. And, realizing that it’s not good business to alienate its motherboard-making customers in Taiwan as it has been doing, Intel has decided to transfer its motherboard technology to several Taiwanese manufacturers, Intel Taiwan said. It is also moving up faster Pentium and Pentium Pro processors after it reached volume faster than expected. A 200MHz Pentium and the multimedia P55C are set for October.
