Norwegian Blue Ltd is a new privately-owned UK telecommunications company and it has launched the Parrot phone service, which seems to have been waiting in the wings for ages: Parrot will be aimed mainly at young people and does away with the need to own a telephone – you get your own private number when you live with other people, and people leave voicemail messages when they want to reach you; the system uses Mercury Communications Ltd’s network and subscribers can hook up to the service over any telephone, quoting credit card or bank payment card numbers and be on line within minutes; subscribers need not own their own handsets and can access messages to them from anywhere in the world, and the company plans to offer call diversion later; Parrot is launching with 2,000 subscribers and Tudor sees this rising to 100,000 by this time next year.
