Compaq Computer Corp plans to invest $95m to double its manufacturing capacity in Singapore by 1996: a new facility, to be operational by first quarter 1996, will add eight new manufacturing lines to 11 existing lines and three due to come on stream by mid-summer; Singapore makes about a third of Compaq’s annual output of 3.1m computers, and by 1996, will double its output and be equipped to make Compaq’s planned mobile companions.
