Hewlett-Packard Co is heavily hedging its operating system and Internet bets, and if you can’t afford its specially-configured RISC Unix servers for the Internet, well it can do you a nice line in inexpensive iAPX-86-based NetServers running Windows NT and Microsoft Corp’s Internet Information Server bundle. The company has put the things together for third parties and describes them as reseller-ready, easy-to-sell products. The first members of the new family of Internet servers comprise the Hewlett line of NetServers, NT, 10/100VG networking equipment, an integrated Hewlett-Microsoft-Channel service and support program for Internet Information Server and other products in the Microsoft BackOffice family of integrated server software. Hewlett says the products should be out at the beginning of April.
