North Andover, Massachusetts-based FTP Software Inc is shipping Explore OnNet, claiming it as the first Internet Mosaic browser package to support Microsoft Corp’s Messaging Application Programming Interface messaging standard for Windows electronic mail applications. Through support for the interface and the Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions standard, the product is said to enable users to transmit virtually all Windows-based files over the Internet, including graphics, video and speech. Also supported is the Simple Mail Transport Protocol standard. Explore OnNet includes an Enhanced NCSA Mosaic browser, which the company claims speeds up the display of World Wide Web home pages. It is said to do this by processing information for display as soon as it is received, thus enabling users to begin scrolling through the information while the remaining data is downloaded in the background. The package is out now at $150.
