Payments technology company Visa has said that it will introduce a new ‘digital wallet’ for its customers later this year.
Visa said the new service will allow customers to make purchases using their mobile phones, by using near-field communications technology or NFC.
The company said the service will connect Visa and non-Visa branded cards and accounts, and support payments through Visa’s payWave application.
Visa has a credit card network for 16,000 banks.
The company also announced that it will introduce a single-click payment services.
With the service, customers can shop online across websites with just one account and without having to enter personal details each time.
Visa chief of global products Jim McCarthy said that the company was make it simple for people who have to re-enter their card numbers and personal information each time they make a transaction.
"E-commerce is our fastest growing channel," said McCarthy.
"We know we can do a lot to improve the experience in the e-commerce environment."
