Mountain View, California-based Trident Microsystems Inc has announced PC View+, a video processor designed for advanced multimedia applications that incorporate video. It enables design implementations for an array of applications including MPEG, CD-ROM playback acceleration, television in a personal computer and live video capture and display. It interfaces directly to a VESA Advanced Feature Connector, which enables the transfer of data to any graphics board supporting this interface. PC View+ features colour dithering capabilities that allow true colour effective colour display using 16-bit Digital to Analogue Converters. The PC View+ interfaces with MPEG video decoders from C-Cube Microsystems, SGS Thompson, Winbond and Zoran. PC View+ is pin-compatible with the older PC View video processor. It costs $20 in quantities of 10,000 a month.
