Motorola Mobility has reported net revenues of $3bn for the first quarter of 2011, an increase of 22% compared to $2.48bn for the same period last year.
The company reported an operating loss of $36m, compared to an operating loss of $172m for the same period last year.
Gross margin for the quarter was $755m, compared to $595m for the same period a year ago.
Mobile devices segment net revenues in the first quarter were $2.1bn, up 30% compared with the year-ago quarter.
The company shipped 9.3 million mobile devices, including 4.1 million smartphones and more than 250,000 tablets in the first quarter of 2011.
For the quarter ended 31 March 2011, the company posted net loss of $81m, or $0 .27 per share, compared to a net loss of $212m, or $0 .72 per share, in the first quarter of 2010.
Motorola Mobility chairman and CEO Sanjay Jha said in the first quarter, the company reached a major milestone in its history by becoming a new independent, public company.
"We enhanced our product portfolio by delivering compelling experiences with the launch of Motorola ATRIX and Motorola XOOM, and offering unique end-to-end video offerings for the home," Jha said.
