Novell Inc, Provo, which has been shopping its Tuxedo transaction processing monitor around for some time, has now found a home for it in the shape of a company formed by former Sun Microsystems Inc vice-president Bill Coleman and several other Sun and Pyramid Technology Corp alumni, today’s edition of Unigram reports. Based in Palo Alto, BEA Systems Inc is backed by E M Warburg, Pincus & Co Inc; it has not exactly bought Tuxedo, because Novell wants to continue to use it to enhance its NetWare Directory Services, but it has acquired all distribution, development, source code and trade mark rights so that even Novell can no longer use the Tuxedo brand name. It’s also taking on some of Novell’s Tuxedo staff.
