Indicating that there were no large contract sales outstanding at the end of last year, Compaq Computer Corp did not wait until the end of December to award its prize for the best Compaq reseller in Russia in 1995. CROC’s sales of Compaq equipment in the last calendar year were higher than those of Merisel Inc, LVS Corp, Steepler Ltd, R-Style Investment Ltd, Kami Corp, Radom or CSS. CROC is a Compaq Systems reseller and 80% of the company’s turnover in 1995 was from large projects. The sales of CROC are heavily weighted towards the Proliant family – larger Compaq systems used as database servers or for departmental-level data processing. CROC’s main customers are mostly federal government structures – the Russian state accounted for around two thirds of its business in 1995. CROC supplied both the houses of the Russian parliament, the Presidential administration, Gosstandard, the Central Bank of Russia and the Federal Patent Library. The vice-president and technical director at CROC, Evgeny Melnik, says that the reseller company approximately tripled its sales in 1995 over 1994.
