In an attempt to pull out of the nose dive it’s in, Glen Cove, New York games publisher Acclaim Entertainment Inc says it has a stack of pre-Christmas game titles ready to ship and will have its Nintendo Ultra64 title out during its second fiscal quarter which begins in December. The company warned last month that it expects to report a net loss for the fiscal fourth quarter and full year greater than previously suggested (CI No 2,990). It blamed a delay in delivery of several new games, resulting in lower-than-expected sales in its fourth quarter, which ended on August 31. The company says it will report mid-November and would not comment on speculation that it could seek Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as a way out of its troubles. T he company shed 70 of its 342 employees earlier this month (CI No 3,005) and recently appointed Jim DeRose as president and chief operating officer of its North American Operations reporting to Gregory Fischbach, Acclaim co-chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer. Fischbach took on the additional role of president after Robert Holmes stepped down as president and chief operating officer. Acclaim last week signed up for PC and video games from European game developer Ocean.
