Sega Enterprises Ltd, UK has teamed up with new Hollywood movie studio DreamWorks SKG – the company formed by Steven Spielberg, Jeffery Katzenbach and David Geffen to bring the latest electronic techniques to movie-making – and Seagram Co Ltd’s MCA Inc to form a new Sega GameWorks entertainment centers venture. The partners say they are planning to open over 100 sites in the next four years. Skip Paul, who served as executive vice- president of MCA, will be chairman and chief executive of the new company. The GameWorks locations are to be designed by a team led by Spielberg, and the first center is scheduled to open later this year. GameWorks will also have exclusive rights to market and sell Sega location-based and arcade products in North America.
