Sprint Corp’s PCS chief executive Andrew Sukawaty told the Salomon conference that the delay in rolling out Personal Communications Services should soon be put right, with targets met by end-March. We decided not to (go live) because we were not happy with the operating and maintenance systems provided by one vendor, Sukawaty declared. The vendor involved is Northern Telecom Ltd, which told Reuters it expected to fix it by mid- to late-January. Its shares did not take kindly to the news, but the Canadian insisted that it would sustain no material financial impact from the delay, which has to do with the monitoring, diagnostics and maintenance of the system, and not to its capacity or its quality. The shares slipped $2.375 to $62.
