Though Britain has been ranked at the top in social network usage among European countries, a new research has found that fewer people intent to buy a tablet computer than in other countries in Europe or Asia.
A TNS research, covering 34,000 people in 43 countries, found that only 17% Britons would consider buying a tablet computer in the next six months. The average was 28% in other European countries and 31% in Asia.
The research found that around 5.5 million Britons access social networking via a mobile device every day with another 8 million, who do not currently do so at present, interested in doing so.
While purchasing a new mobile, over a third of British consumers believe that content and applications were important, the study found.
A high percentage of people, at 45%, said that design was important as well. Only a third of those surveyed said mobile operator was important.
Around 17 million Britons own a smartphone and they top Europe for downloading apps (31%), watching video and downloading games (26%).
