Stephen Kuzara, Acer Inc’s country manager in the Commonwealth of Independent States, a name rapidly going out of fashion, has reported that the company has turned over some $1m per month since it opened an office in Moscow a month ago – a figure he said would certainly increase barring any unforeseen political events. Acer, which currently ships in systems from both Germany and Taiwan, has stated its intention to assemble within the Commonwealth of Independent States and is also aiming to become the first personal computer vendor fully to translate all its software and documentation into Cyrillic, according to Kuzara. Acer currently uses Lamport, Compulink, Kami Corp and Lanck as local distributors; Kuzara made assurances that the companies are paying the same amount for Acer systems as the company’s distributors elsewhere in the world.
