Informatica, a provider of data integration software, has said that UMass Memorial Health Care, a health care system in Central and Western Massachusetts, has selected its EMR Data Migration Foundation.

The EMR Data Migration Foundation is used in UMass Memorial’s Cornerstone initiative, which is a five-year plan valued approximately $140m, to replace clinical and financial applications throughout the health system’s five hospitals and its ambulatory care facilities.

The initiative is expected to overhaul UMass Memorial’s operational and clinical applications including: replacing financial systems, implementing new inpatient clinical systems, continuing the rollout of an enterprise-wide ambulatory electronic health records, and implementing a clinical data repository platform to share clinical information within and between care organisations.

Informatica provides UMass Memorial with a systematic data migration methodology and comprehensive data integration and data quality platform that provide: simplified access to disparate source systems; automates discovery of data quality issues long before trying to load; and standardises, de-duplicates and prepares legacy data for new system and process.

UMass Memorial is using Informatica to support the migration of 4.9 million patients contained in five legacy registration applications to a single, enterprise registration system.

This process involves analysing, harmonising and migrating approximately 20 years of patient demographic and insurance information stored in UMass Memorial’s existing MEDITECH systems, Informatica said.
