NEC is showcasing a new Unified Communications & Collaboration (UC&C) software architecture at the Enterprise Connect exhibition in Orlando, Florida.

The virtualised platform utilises the Rich Internet Applications (RIA) to align with changing enterprise needs, and employs Web and IT architectures to fundamentally change how enterprises provide collaborative experiences for their workforce and customers, said the company.

The new UC&C RIA client framework fits into existing secure Web architectures, and can be deployed in a consistent manner across any device, whether on PC, a mobile, or a tablet, the company said.

The UC&C software is designed to be user-centric, enabling IT to assign services and media resource to user as required by their role.

The offering is part of NEC’s UNIVERGE family of products. It is a distributed IT services platform that operates on general-purpose infrastructure, provides open standards, and aligns with existing IT virtualisation, cloud computing, security methods, directory structures, and application delivery models.

The company said that the UC&C architecture is designed to operate within virtualised data centres or within cloud computing environments and can be utilised to build private enterprise communications or for UC-as-a-service (UCaaS).
