Apple has begun manufacturing a new version of its iPad tablet computer, according to reports.
Citing insiders, The Wall Street Journal said in the report that the new iPad is expected to be thinner and lighter than the first model.
The tablet is also likely to have features like video-conferencing with at least one camera on the front. But the resolution of the device may not be better than the prvious versions. The large display panel size is believed to be the reason for this lack of improvement. The tablet will be faster and have more memory space.
The new tablet is expected to be launched in the next few months. It is likely that it will be available through Verizon and AT&T in the US in the beginning.
Apple has declined to comment on the matter.
